Vandalism removal
[edit]Thanks for removing vandalism to Lola. You did miss some of it, however. If you want to remove multiple edit vandalism, go to the page history. Click the left column of "radio buttons" on the last good edit, then click the radio button on the right column of the last vandalism edit. Then click the "Compare selected versions" toward the top. Then click "Undo", the difference between the first button and last button will be displayed with the current edit code. Check carefully that the edit is valid. Article Feedback Tool update
[edit]Hey Offeiriad. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.
We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.

Your edits of the article History of the United States Coast Guard
[edit]You have changed the dating format of an article that uses dmy formatting (day/month/year) in its structure. This formatting has been in place since at least February 2013. All of the dates in the article conform to dmy formatting except the ones you have changed. Your edits is disruptive and changes the consistency of the dating in the article and is a non-productive edit. I will revert your edit and trust you to understand the reasoning behind the Wikipedia Manual of Style relating to dates. Please do not change the date formatting established in the article. - No, frankly I do not understand why my edits are not acceptable to YOU since in the Wikipedia Manual of Style relating to dates the normal American standard of mdy is one of the acceptable formats. I am not being disruptive with my corrections as it is a format accepted long before 2013. It's an article about the United States Coast Guard and I feel that any articles regarding the United States should display OUR dating format. Offeiriad (talk) 02:32, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
- Ok, you are entitled to your opinion; however, the date format for this particular article has already been established. It was established in February 2013 and all of the dates conform to the dmy format as are many of the military articles that are on Wikipedia. If an editor such as yourself wants to start a new article and choses to use mdy formatting for dates then that is perfectly okay. The formatting used by the original editor is usually used thereafter. If you will notice in the first line of code in the edit window on the particular article in question uses the coding use dmy dates. Editors following on with later edits should use the convention adopted by the original editor to avoid unnecessary edits and reedits by other editors. Either convention is acceptable, but to avoid edit wars, one convention is used and not changed. Many, but not all military articles use dmy dating because that is the way many older military history references were written. Using two different formats in the same article only serves to confuse the reader thus the Wikipedia Manual of Style says to use one format or the other but not both in the same article. I respectfully request that you not change dates in this particular article to the mdy format because the dmy format has already been used in this instance. Thank you for your cooperation.
